You can visit one, some, or all of the participating artist studios. Start your journey here! 1) Look through the participating artist directory above. Each entry provides you a bit about each artist and a sample of their work. The directory icons give you more information about what to expect at each studio. 2) Select the studios you "must see" and plot your basic route. If you're planning to visit multiple studios, we suggest your route follow studios by number--either forward from #1 or backward from #11. Of course, the adventurous among you wanting to meander a bit through lovely South County may choose to zigzag randomly between studios. Don't forget to support locally-owned restaurants along the way by stopping for lunch or dinner. Check out our raffle sponsors (on the map and described below) for dining suggestions. 3) Click on the map to see studio and sponsor addresses and to get driving directions. (Note: The map will become active on October 19th.) Just a reminder that while Google Maps and GPS can be very helpful in navigation, they are not always completely reliable in rural areas like this. 4) Follow the signs! Our distinctive road signs will help guide you on your journey to your destinations. If you get turned around, don't worry. On tour days, each studio marker on the map will provide a phone number for the artist. If you find yourself in a pinch, don't hesitate to contact one of the artists for help getting back on track. Additionally, each studio will have a one-page handout with studio locations to support visitors who prefer paper over digital. ~Sponsors & Raffle~ EVENT SPONSORS The following sponsors have donated in support of this Muddy Creek Artist Guild event. We encourage you to patronize their businesses. RAFFLE All of this beautiful art, chatting directly with the artists, and having a good time traversing the rolling hills of South County! What more could you want on a Fall weekend? Well, how about entering a raffle for your chance to win prizes donated by local businesses? Each studio will have a sign-in sheet. When you visit, make sure you sign in to be eligible to win one of the donated items at the end of the tour. The more studios you visit, the more chances to win! See below for a list of raffle items from our generous donors. Winners will be contacted at the end of the tour. two $25 gift cards $25 gift card Two $25 gift cards

  • ABOUT | Muddy Creek Artists

Information about Muddy Creek Artists Guild, including historical background. Muddy Creek Artists Guild Showcasing Local Art in Southern Anne Arundel County, MD since 2009 The Muddy Creek Artists Guild (MCAG) is a roving band of intrepid artists and supporters whose mission is to encourage, support and promote the original art of southern Anne Arundel County artists. The focus of the Guild is to show and sell local artwork, while also educating our members and the public about our art, the importance of art to our culture, and how it contributes to the quality of life in South County. Monthly membership meetings are held to encourage artists to share ideas/inspirations, professional development tips and strategies, and to just have fun as a means of fostering a creative community in which to grow our talents. We also host informal workshops, guest speakers, and fun-filled field trips (name tags included!). To assist artists in their personal development and to promote their work, the Guild annually hosts two or three large, multi-day pop-up shows in a temporary "gallery" installation at a South County location. Guild members have the option of participating in these various open, juried, and thematic shows, all of which include original works from our members in a wide range of media: painting, textiles, jewelry, clay works, sculpture, photography, pottery, wood, mixed media, and more. These shows are free and open to the public. The Guild also hosts a weekend-long, self-guided studio tour. Over two days, guests can visit artists throughout the area—in their own workspaces!—for an in-depth, behind-the-scenes experience. Pop-Up Shows and Studio Tours From community centers, to open store fronts, MCAG has produced pop-up galleries throughout South County. The Guild is an active member of the South County community. Among Guild activities are: sponsoring "DoART" experiences, where the artists teach non-members fun and engaging art techniques; running the popular community art project called "Studio Intrepid" at each show for visitors to have an opportunity to create with our artists; displaying member artwork in local businesses; and sponsoring community bus trips to art museums to enjoy special exhibits. Community Outreach DoART workshop at Deale Elks Lodge The Guild's Arts Education Fund supports South County students pursuing the arts. We raise monies for Arts Education by selling artwork donated by our artists and through the sale of raffle tickets at our events to win artwork donated by our artists. You can also make a donation to our Arts Education Fund here Learn more about this program >> The MCAG Arts Education Fund Left to right: Southern H.S. Our 15th annual Holiday Art Show and Sale The Muddy Creek Artists Guild is excited to announce its 15th annual "Pop-Up" Holiday Art Show and Sale. The show will be held over two weekends, Decemb er 6-8 and December 13-15, 2024, at 179 Mitchells Chance Road, Edgewater, Md. 21037 (Main Street at South River Colony Shopping Cent er). It's free and open to the public. The Muddy Creek Artists Guild is a roving band of intrepid artists whose mission is to support and promote the original art of southern Anne Arundel County artists. Immerse yourself in this professional art gallery experience, featuring a wide variety of media, including painting, pottery, photography, jewelry, glass, woodworks and more. The show provides a great opportunity to engage with local artists, as well as shop for unique artworks and gift items. Holidays are also a time for giving. Purchase a raffle ticket to win a free piece of art! This money goes directly to the art teachers of South County public schools. We will also host a DIY art session, "Studio Intrepid", on Dec 7, 8 (Sat, Sun) and Dec 14 (Sat) from 1-4pm. Bring your kids, a friend or just yourself and create your own work of art to take home with you -- free! But wait there's more -- join us for a wine and cheese "Meet the Artists" reception on Saturday Dec 7 from 5-7pm -- live music by Rich Hayward, light refreshments, and a chance to meet and talk to the artists and browse some cool art.
