Edgewater, Md. (January 7, 2020)—On Tuesday, January 7, 2020, members of the Muddy Creek Artists Guild (MCAG) presented a check for $3,471 to the art department of Central Special School in Edgewater. The money was raised through the Guild's Art Education Fund, which raffled off baskets of art donated by the Muddy Creek artists during their two pop-up art exhibitions in 2019. The presenters from MCAG were members Patsy Card (left), Patricia Watters (right), and Guild president, Anita Ewing (second from right). The check was received by Central Special's art teacher, Gillian Connor, and the school's principal, Natalie Marston. The school plans to put the money towards the purchase of a pottery wheel for the art department.
Each year, MCAG selects one or more local schools to benefit from the money raised through its Art Education Fund. The recipients of the 2020 Art Education Fund are to be announced sometime this spring.

Each year after the Naval Academy’s commencement, Edgewater photographer Mike Lopes waits at a nearby shopping center to catch a few recent graduates on their way to lunch so he can give them an 11x14 inch matted print of The Blue Angels in flight.
The Muddy Creek Artists Guild sold those images and pretty much every other form of media as part of the group’s Gifts from the Arts show at the Main Street Shopping Center at South River Colony. The show included works with a range of prices from 36 artists who live south of the South River.
“It supports a creative community inside their community,” guild President Anita Ewing said.

MCAG loves being able to help those that have supported us over the years. Recently, 24 members donated art work to our friends at the Deale Elks Lodge #2528 for their Broken Antler Fundraiser on June 28. Come out and enjoy an evening of fine dining and art in support of this local organization. Download the flyer (below) for more information.
