The
Muddy Creek Artists Guild is excited to announce their 4th annual Spring Show, Artists on the Half Shell to be held
June 1-3 in Annapolis at the Criswell of Annapolis Audi showroom, 1707
West Street. This is the first exhibit of the entire southern Anne Arundel
County guild in Annapolis and will feature paintings, printmaking,
pottery, photography, sculpture, jewelry, textiles and more.
“This is a very unique and beautiful space to exhibit our
work, and it is very generous of George Criswell to invite our Guild to
takeover his showroom for three days and nights,” reports Bea Poulin, Muddy Creek Artists Guild
President. The Guild transforms
unusual spaces into galleries for short periods of time. This new venue allows
the Guild to showcase its work in the modern, sleek and highly polished
Audi showroom.
The Muddy Creek
Artists Guild begins its fourth year of providing three annual shows
in various local venues including South River Colony in Edgewater, the
former Blockbuster in Deale, Greenstreet Gardens in Lothian and Memorial Hall
in Galesville.
The focus of the Guild is to show and sell local artwork throughout the greater South County area
in Maryland while also educating our members and the public about our
art, and contributing to the quality of life in South County.
Toward
that end, the Guild usually hosts three shows annually when a temporary
"gallery" is installed at a South County location. Guild
members have the option of participating in our various open, juried
and thematic shows include original works from our members (over 100
artists) in a wide range of media: paintings, textiles, jewelry, clay
works, sculpture, photography, pottery, wood and mixed media.
Monthly
membership meetings are held to encourage artists to share
ideas/inspirations and their talents for upcoming shows and to network
with other artists. We also host informal workshops, guest speakers and
fun-filled field trips (name tags included!).

Muddy Creek Artists Guild Adopts Namesake
The Muddy Creek Artists Guild as part of their continued community
outreach has adopted a one mile stretch of Route 468 better known as
Muddy Creek Road. Muddy Creek Road, the highway the group was named
after, connects the Shady Side peninsula with the Annapolis mainland.
The Guild has made a commitment to pick-up litter from the one mile
section of roadway four times a year for a two year period. The program
allows Guild members to build pride in their community by helping to
establish a cleaner environment.

On April 21, Earth Day 2012, Muddy Creek Artists Guild members helped
to clean up Muddy Creek Road. Eleven people participated in the trash
pick up including County Executive John R. Leopold.
